Located at the base of the Snowy Range Mountains, the North Platte River is a scenic relaxing float. The river offers great fishing, solitude, and lots of opportunity for wildlife viewing. The North Platte River travels through both public lands as well as private lands so colored signs have been posted at river access sites letting paddlers know if the access site is public or private. The take-out for this portion of the river is Bessemer Bend which holds historical significance as the oldest trail crossing in the casper area and the location of the first cabin built in Wyoming. There is a developed boat ramp and restrooms available at the take-out.
