Norfork Lake is a large reservoir located in northern Arkansas created by an impoundment of the North Fork River and its tributaries. The shores of the lake vary from unspoiled wooded hills to swanky residential developments. The area of the lake surrounding Pigeon Creek Use Area is surrounded by wooded hills that create deep winding bays. The point of land that Pigeon Creek occupies is completely undeveloped and host a trail system as well as good paddling. Residential development and a few houseboats are found across the water from the put-in.
