The main body of Jenkinson Lake is a popular place for motorized boats and water skiers in late spring and summer. The several coves and inlets offer a safe heaven for canoes and kayaks. The upper portion of the lake is far quieter with an enforced 5 mph speed limit, making it a perfect retreat for paddlers. The lake is bordered by a forest of tall pines and lines with several beaches to dock boats at and explore the shores of the lake. The islands on the lake are protected nesting grounds for a variety of birds and are off-limits. High winds building up across the lake can make crossing the channel to upper Jenkinson Lake difficult.
