Lake Chabot lies nestled between the foothills of San Leandro and just outside of the San Francisco area. The lake is a popular recreational area for bikers, hikers, joggers, and of course boaters. The lake serves as a water source for the area, therefore, upon launching, park employees will inspect your boat to prevent contamination. For the same reason, swimming is not permitted. Restrooms are scattered around the shoreline as well as several boating docks to tie up your boat and explore the area on foot. The lake is stocked with fish, so be sure to bring your fishing rod along. Food, boat rentals, fishing permits, and bait are all available at the Lake Chabot Marina Cafe, where the boat launch is located.
