Mount Tallac Trail begins under a dense tree cover with a gradual ascent. After passing Floating Island Lake and Cathedral Lake, the trail becomes steeper with open areas covered in wildflowers during summer months. Views at the summit include Mount Ralston, Pyramid Peak, Fallen Leaf Lake, and Lake Tahoe.
