Rancho Seco Lake was originally a man made small pond built for the near by power plant in case of an emergency. Today the lake is now 160 acres in size and part of the 400 acre Rancho Seco Recreational Park. The area is comprised of gently rolling green hillsides where the only trees in the park are that which border the edges of the lake. There is a beach on the south side of the lake and additional boat ramps on the north side and one on the south side of the lake.
