This trail makes a loop through a forest of the world's largest old growth sequoia groves. It follows alongside Redwood Creek through large sequoias to Sugar Bowl where the sequoias are smaller and oak and pine trees appear in the mix. It meanders through a dense sequoia grove before ascending to Redwood Mountain. Trees are fewer at the saddle and there are excellent open views of Redwood Canyon along this section. The trail descends through more sequoias back to the trailhead.
