Salmon Falls Trail closely follows the South Fork of the American River through brush as it approaches Folsom Lake. At 7 miles the trail heads further inland under light tree cover with sections of open areas. The trail merges with Rattlesnake Bar Road at 8.7 miles. It follows the road until the ridge to Flagstaff Hill. At 12 miles the trail descends down a much narrower path back to the trailhead. This can be a popular trail, so be aware of other riders and hikers.
