From Catalina Harbor to Little Harbor, this paddle trip explores the desolate western shores of Santa Catalina Island. The coastline on this side of the island is composed of steep bluffs, talus slopes, and intermittent beaches. Be cautious of submerged rocks and a shallow reef when entering Little Harbor. A developed campground is available at Little Harbor. Contact Catalina Island Conservancy for information on required permits and Catalina Island Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Bureau for camping and transportation information. This trip is best enjoyed in the mornings when conditions are most calm.
