The Crestone Peaks lie in the heart of the Sangre de Cristo Range and has some of the most challenging and fun climbing among the fourteeners. This route starts at the South Colony Trailhead and follows the same approach route as Ellingwood Arete route. It climbs through the center of the northeast face between Crestone Peak and Crestone Needle. Climbing reaches ratings of 5.8. Once you reach the south ridge scramble east to reach Crestone Peak.
