The hike to Granite Lakes gently follows alongside Frying Pan River through a dense forest and past interesting granite boulders to where the Granite Creek joins the river. The trail then follows Granite Creek through a forested canyon and crosses it upon entering a small meadow just below Lower and Upper Granite Lakes. Open meadows, granite boulders, and evergreens surround the lakes, making this hike a scenic getaway. This can be done as an out and back, but is best enjoyed as a multi-day trip with time spent exploring the area.
