Little Bear Peak is one of Colorado's more difficult fourteeners to summit. This route is short and dangerous but is the most popular. The easiest route is not open to the public. There are loose rocks so hiking it on a weekend is risky with large parties around. From Lake Como it is a short mile to the summit but in this section expect class 3 scrambling and the 150 foot crux of the climb which is a low class 5. There is usually a rope hanging to use but bring your own gear for safety purposes. Be careful to not knock rocks loose into this gully. The last few hundred feet is up steep rubble-covered ledges.
