The highlight of Washington Gulch Trail is the 11,400 foot ridge that offers incredible views of the Maroon Bells. The trail climbs between tall evergreens and through large open meadows which are speckled with colorful wildflowers by the month of July. The meadows give way to spectacular views of the Ruby Range and Raggeds in addition to the views that are found at the ridge. Since this trail is also popular with mountain bikers, it is highly recommended that dogs be kept in leashes. This can be done as an out and back or as a one-way.
