This trail follows both the Colorado Trail and the Wheeler National Recreational Trail as they climb the mountainside through spruce firs and lodgepole pines and cross small creeks to a pass along the Tenmile Range thats well above treeline, offering outstanding views of the surrounding mountains. Given the exposure, be sure to get an early start for this hike to avoid getting caught in any afternoon thundershowers which are typical in the mountain.
