The Yampa River is the longest free-flowing tributary in the Colorado River Basin. It flows fast and strong from snowmelt early in the spring. This is another good beginner section that is a good multi-day trip. It is a remote part of the river that cuts through steep sandstone canyon walls. There are many excellent campsites with an abundance of wildlife and birds. The take out is located in the abandoned town of Juniper Springs.
