Lake Griffin State Park provides paddlers access to the Dead River which leads through basin swamp to the southwest shoreline of Lake Griffin. Once on Lake Griffin, paddlers can explore many miles of shoreline in either direction. The Dead River offers calmer, more protected waters for paddling compared to the open, more exposed waters of Lake Griffin where a little more caution is requires, especially during windy conditions.
