Located in the southwestern part of the Florida Peninsula, the Peace River is one of Florida's major coastal rivers and one of the most popular paddling trails in Florida. The river changes scenery along its course with sections of high banks and deep channels alternating with wider segments and open pools. This section of the Peace River covers the first 14 miles of the designated canoe trail between the SR 60 bridge and Fort Meade Recreation Area. This most northern section of the canoe trail becomes very hard to run during low water and should only be run with a flow of 30 CFS and some boat dragging and portages may be needed even at levels higher than that.
