Paddling the St. John Bayou is a great option for a urban paddling destination in the heart of New Orleans. The scenery along the bayou includes residential development on one side and open green space and parks on the other. There is no official launch site for the bayou but paddlers have fairly easy access from the banks at Dumaine Bridge. The bayou is located right next to the New Orleans City Park which also offers water for paddling, hiking trails, and picnic areas.
