Messalonskee Lake is roughly 3,500 acres in size and stretches north to south. It is the second largest water body in the surrounding lake chain. This particular section of the lake focuses on the northern portion, which is significantly smaller than the southern and much narrower. Because of that, it can make it feel as if one's paddling down a large river. Take note that due to the lake's elongated shape wind can create dangerous paddling conditions.
