Messalonskee Lake is roughly 3,500 acres in size and stretches north to south. It is the second largest water body in the surrounding lake chain. This particular section of the lake focuses on the southern portion, which is significantly larger than the northern. It's wide open waters offers scenic, unobstructed views across the water to each shoreline and provides opportunities for some open water paddling. Due to its elongated shape, be cautious of wind which can create dangerous paddling conditions.
