The Sandy River originates in the Sandy River Ponds and flows almost 75 miles through rural Maine before converging with the Kennebec River. The river offers some good trip options suitable for all skill levels. This short section covers 5 miles of quick-water between Farmington Falls and New Sharon. There are no major rapids or challenges along this section but there are dams and rapids just before the put-in and just after the take-out for paddlers continuing further or starting higher upstream.
