The Au Sable River is one of the most popular in all of Michigan for paddling due to its beautiful scenery, consistent water levels, and easy access. The river between Wakeley Bridge and Parmalee Bridge is a little wider and very slow flowing, especially as it confluences with the South Branch of the Au Sable. The slow flow of the river does result in fewer paddlers and a more remote experience. The take-out is the Parmalee Bridge Campground located on the left just before the bridge.
