Located near the top of Michigan's Lower Peninsula, the Boardman River is a small but scenic river that travels through dense forest terrain and past charming cottages. This section of the river starts at the Forks Campground and travels west to the take-out at Boardman Dam. There is a portage around Brown Bridge Dam and there may be additional portages around downed trees and some small footbridges that require some careful navigation and possible portaging so pay close attention to the river ahead. The majority of the river has a mild easy flow but there are some class II rapids after passing Beitner Road that offer a little more challenge. These can be avoided by taking out at the Beitner Road access if desired.
