Drummond Island is located in Lake Huron, east of the Upper Peninsula, and provides paddlers of all skill levels plenty of scenic water for paddling. The large island consists of forested shorelines, rugged beaches, and sheltered bays that are great for paddling. There are also lots of small islands located around the main island that are fun to paddle around and explore. This paddling trip starts on the southwest side of the island at Fort Drummond Marina and explores the clear waters and small islands of Whitney Bay. The shoreline of Whitney Bay is mostly undeveloped and is home to lots of wildlife. There are good camping and picnicking spots available on No Name Island located on the east side of the bay. The bay is mostly protected but windy weather can cause rough waters. A ferry is used to transport visitors to the island so check schedule and fees when planning your trip.
