The Les Cheneaux Islands is an area of small islands and protected bays located on Lake Huron that provide paddlers of all skill levels a wide array of paddling options. This trip sets off for Government Island, the only island in the area accessible to the public. The island also offers camping and a good resting spot for exploration, especially since the other islands in the area, as well as much of the Lake Huron shoreline, are privately owned. The water is mostly calm and protected in the area but be cautious if setting out in windy conditions and also avoid paddling south of of Government Island where the paddling is much more exposed.
