The Manistee River is located in the northern Lower Peninsula and is one of the longest rivers in the State of Michigan. The river is known for its excellent fly fishing but is also a great place for paddling. This section of the river is a good option for beginners as there is easy access for the put-in and take-out and the the water is calm and easy to paddle. The riverbank through this area is very rugged with little development.
