The Manistee River is a long and scenic river in Michigan's northern Lower Peninsula that offers excellent fly fishing and paddling opportunity. The float between MI 66 and US 131 is for advanced paddlers who are capable of going a long distance without frequent or convenient take-outs. The scenery along the way is worthwhile though with lots of heavily forested, undeveloped riverbank that offers plenty of solitude and wilderness scenery. There is public camping available at the put-in and also just a half a mile from US 131.
