The shoreline of Wilderness State Park is a popular destination for paddling due to rugged and scenic shoreline with a chain of small islands that provide lots of paddling options. The shoreline in this area is all undeveloped with natural scenery. The trip starts from the state park boat launch and follows the shoreline west out to Temperance Point and a few small islands that soon follow. Varying water levels can change the island topography drastically creating dangerous conditions in the form of shallow rocky shoals or submerged islands so be cautious when exploring the area. Excessive winds can also cause dangerous paddling conditions so check current conditions before setting out.
