The town of Bemidji, named after a Native American chief, is home to Bemidji State university as well as one of the states' largest logging and tourism industries. You will cross the continental divide , ride through the Chippewa National Forests rugged woods, pass several lakes and streams. You will also cross the Mississippi River several times on your return to Bemidji. In short, this road biking adventure offers many excellent vistas; it has also be touted as a great route to sight bald eagles.
