Gitchi Gummi Trail, in the middle of Gooseberry Falls State Park, one of Minnesota's most popular, allows you to get away from the crowds into a very historic and scenic part of the park. The viewing platforms afford excellent views of Lake Superior from what seems like your own private deck. This hike has several historical aspects to it, including Civilian Conservation Corps artifacts from the late 1930s; CCC crews where the ones who built many of the trail and buildings in the park area.
