This road biking adventure runs through the heart of the Mesabi Range, a place that was named Missabay Heights by early explorers. The area has been extensively mined as it contained some of the worlds largest ore concentrations in the world. Nature has recovered remarkably since the extensive mining, and as you ride on the country roads on this route you will see trees and shrubbery growing out of the discarded rock from the mining excursions. There are rusting machines and mining artifacts in the tall grasses next to some of the towns along the way.
