North Long Lake is within the boundaries of the Chippewa National Forest, a wilderness area with around 400,000 acres of wetland and over 1,300 lakes. The shores of the lake are lined with many different tree species including aspen, birch, pine, balsam fir and maple blanket which blanket the whole National Forest. Anglers will be pleased with the variety of fish species here including Crappie, Bluegill, Green Sunfish, Northern Pike, Walleye Perch and a couple of Bass species; largemouth Bass is often the most numerous fish in the lake.
