Best ridden with fresh dry snow, the Salmon River Canyon is just east of Timberline Ski Area. This is a great short climb when the weather is to warm below the timberline or too dangerous higher up on the mountain. At the beginning of the climb, you will cross the Salmon River gully, using caution that there is enough snow coverage over the water. Do not travel too far east, as this is the White River Glacier and is very dangerous. The descent is the same and the ascent.
