Lone Peak is an exhilarating peak to summit. There are several routes to the top but no matter which one you choose it is a long and challenging adventure. This route begins at the Jacob's Ladder Trailhead. There is a quick fork after about 100 yards. Be sure to take the trail to the right. You will pass an enormous rock known as Lone Rock and then climb up “Jacob's Ladder” and to the Lone Peak cirque. During the last half mile expect extreme exposure with cliffs that drop hundreds of feet. Views are awesome from the summit. There is not much room up top and the exposure is incredible and makes your stomach flutter.
