Beginners will love this paddle. Make sure to go north to the un-paddled and protected river to enjoy the eagles, waterfowl, deer, and muskrat. The river is broad for the first mile; it narrows as you go further up. You also have the choice of going downstream as it is mapped here. The river is wider and full of marshland to explore. With more homes and farmland, we mapped a turn around at the Morris Bay. With very rich wildlife to be observed either up or downstream, this paddle is a must. There is a second put-in at the Tantard Landing on Rt 617.
