The Cooper River Trail travels along a scenic river valley to Cooper Lake and awesome views of the mountains surrounding it. From the trailhead, go a few dozen yards and take a left onto the Cooper River Trail. The trail follows the river, sometimes closely, sometimes at a distance, through an open forest of pine and spruce, until it reaches Forest Road 4616. Go right onto the road, then in a few hundred yards, turn left onto the lakeshore trail. This trail winds through forest along the shore of Cooper Lake, with several good places to camp or rest, including the F.S. Owhi Campground, where the trail ends. There is the option to continue riding along the Pete Lake Trail to the Wilderness boundary, riding the road back to the trailhead, or returning the way you came. A NW Forest Pass is required to park at the trailhead.
