The highlight of this trail is the Hickmans Cabin built by the forest service in the 1930s to store supplies and serve as a center of the frequent firefighting operations in the area. The cabin is falling into disrepair but still serves as an illustration of the area's history. The Huffman Peak Trail descends to the river a little over a mile in and is the only access to Siouxon Creek (note that there is no bridge here and Huffman Peak is inaccessible without a ford.) The trail connects to the main Siouxon Trail at the eastern (newer) trailhead.
