Mt Mitchell's rocky summit has one of the best views in southwestern Washington, encompassing the volcanoes St Helens, Rainier, Goat Rocks, Adams, and Hood, as well as the nearby large reservoirs and the dark green Siouxon Creek valley. The trail is steep and views are limited until you come to a treeline meadow on the south side of the mountain that is full of flowers in the early summer. The access situation on the north side of the mountain may be tenuous, so check with Skamania County authorities before venturing out.
