Three Fingers is a prominent and very popular objective in the Mountain Loop Highway area. The approach is via the Three Fingers-Goat Flats-Saddle Lake Trail, which ends at Tin Can Gap. Popular camping spots include Saddle Lake and Goat Flats as well as the cabin at the summit lookout tower. After Tin Can Gap, the route becomes technical depending on the current conditions. There are places where it crosses the upper end of the Queest-Alb Glacier on snow or possibly bare ice. Steep snow is also possible on the south side of the ridge early in the season. At most times of year, it's easiest to follow the climber's path that leads directly to the summit. The final rock steps to the summit are aided by the presence of wooden ladders. This peak can be considered a challenging hike in September or October when there is little or no snow left, but should be considered much more hazardous in the rest of the year. A NW Forest Pass is required to park at the trailhead.
