The Gandy Dancer is a relatively new railroad trail that cuts across a broad curve of the St. Croix National Scenic Riverway and connects the towns of St. Croix Falls and Danbury. It takes its name from the crews who kept the rails in shape with railroad implements from the Gandy Tool Company. The flat terrain with a crushed stone surface and the many parks along the way are a big attraction for family riders. There are seven, many with playgrounds and swimming beaches. Most impressive is Interstate State Park, which is connected to the Polk County Information Center by a spur trail, which explains the glacial legacy of the St. Croix Valley.
