Gibraltar Rock is a sandstone bluff that rises up, suddenly, out of the earth and is an outlier of the Black River Escarpment that was, at one time, attached and has become separated by erosion. There are others in the area but this is the highest. This hike offers sweeping views of the rolling farmland, a large bog and scenic valley, fantastic views of the cliffs, and is surrounded by beautiful mixed forest. The climb to this extraordinary lookout over the Wisconsin River Valley will take your breath away in more ways than one.
