This is a beautiful hike along the scenic St. Croix River, a swift running, clear, and broad river. Its waters support a notably rich and diverse array of freshwater mussels. Above the river, eagles and ospreys patrol and wolves use the river as a travel corridor and two packs are in residence just a few miles north of this hike. Wildlife is abundant, plant life is diverse with beautiful ferns gracing the trail, and the scenery is pristine. Atop the Sandrock Cliffs, great vantage points and views are available.
