Ironton Park is sometimes referred to as the “Switzerland America” and is a popular place for backcountry skiers to find some powder. Skiers have come here to enjoy the beautiful terrain and skiing since 1887. This route is on the west side of the Hwy and follows a cross country trail past the north end of Crystal Lake to the base of Hayden Mountain on the west end of Ironton Park. Climb up the bottom of Half Moon Basin to 11,400. This was part of a proposed ski area in the 1950s.
