Dyers Lake, in the northeastern corner of Minnesota, offers a secluded and scenic paddle. The shores of the lake are surrounded by a host of fir, pine and spruce trees. This is a good fishing lake with a variety of different fish species including Trout, Northern Pike, Bluegill, Crappie and Perch. The maximum depth of this lake is only 23 feet which contributes to the good fishing conditions of this lake. Be apprised that there is a five fish maximum on this lake.

Located in Temperance River State Park, 2 campgrounds are available for tent or trailer camping. The lower campground has a perfect view of the lake and most sites in each campground are shaded. 21 electric sites are provided in the upper campground only. The max trailer length is 60 feet long and all guests have access to flush toilets, drinking water, and showers.

This hiking adventure utilizes the Superior Hiking Trail, traveling through heavily forested areas near the Northern Shores of Lake Superior. The latter parts of the trail wind through the beautiful Manitou State Park. Wildlife that may be seen on this hike includes foxes, deer, bears, and a variety of bird species. Be aware that there is a parking fee at Manitou State Park. Also, this is a wet-feet adventure, you must cross at least two shallow rivers, so prepare accordingly.

The highlights of this hiking adventure include the beautiful forest views and the small lakes, Dyers and Ruffy Lakes. Each of these lakes offers descent fishing so bring a fishing pole. The forest that the path runs through is full of birch, aspen, pine, fir, and cedar. Be apprised that if you bring a dog it must be kept on a leash.

The Temperance River trail features a dramatic gorge that is more unique than anything else on the North Shore. Many people spend a lot of time at the gorge taking in its beauty and shooting photographs. The Upper Falls near the end of the hike are beautiful too. There are several other trails that branch off of the Temperance River trail. Be apprised that the trail is wide and has plenty of safety walls which makes this hike very family friendly.
