Full of historical treasures and a variety of habitats. You'll walk through a mature hemlock and hardwood forest. This follows the blue trail, to the yellow and back to the blue trail.

Mount Tammany is part of the Kittatinny Ridge and is located in the Worthington State Forest and the Delaware Water Gap. You will see an abundance of wild life and foliage including beautiful Lady's Slipper. The views on this hike are memorable to say the least and the trail may be heavily used.

Very level, easy hike along an old railroad bed to a tunnel from 1911. Pretty cool finds along the way including farm walls and original power lines. I took a short detour to the old rail bed on top of the tunnel. Definitely worth the hike.

Harriman State Park and the surrounding parks offer hundreds of miles of hiking trails and recreational opportunity in the New York area. The trails can be combined to customize endless hiking trips. This hike follows multiple trails to complete a loop hike on Breakneck Mountain where hikers will enjoy views of the surrounding lakes and mountain terrain. The beginning and end of the hike consists of a steep climb and descent but the remainder only has some small ups and downs.

This hike takes you around beautiful Wawayanda Lake and you can take a side trip to the secluded Laurel Pond. Weekends can be busy and they will close the park if it reaches capacity. You should call the Wawayanda State Park office at (973) 853-4462 before going on this hike. Leased dogs are permitted. The fees are higher Memorial Day through Labor Day.

This hike takes you along a secluded portion of the Appalachian Trail and don't be startled if you see a deer or two along the path. Your destination is beautiful Sunfish Pond where you can eat your lunch and relax before your return trip. Make sure you bring your camera!

Apple Pie Hill is called "one of the most amazing views on the East Coast" by the U.S. Geological Survey. Explore the Carranza Memorial at the beginning of the hike, a monument for a Mexican aviator. You travel sandy paths through a pitch pine forest as you skirt along Cedar Swamp. Leashed dogs are permitted.

Harriman State Park is the second largest state park in all of New York and it offers excellent recreational opportunity including hundreds of miles of hiking trails. This hike leads to multiple high points and peaks in the area including Stahahe High Peak, Surebridge Mountain, and Black Rock. These points provide some awesome panoramic views of the area. The hike also passes a small pond and historic mine. There are multiple connecting trails along the way that can be used to add side trips and explore the area further. When hiking in the park, pay close attention to the trail markers and a trail map, especially when venturing off on other trails.

Hiking along this portion of the Appalachian Trail is truly breathtaking.The views that you see are unsurpassed and you pass through some of New Jersey's nicest scenery including Sunfish Pond. The pond has great fishing in the summer months. Leased dogs are permitted

So many historical treasures in one park. Morris Canal was here and a huge iron ore mine from the 1800s.
