This adventure features both Upper and Upper Upper Roaring Brook, the forest and wildlife. Wildlife that may be seen include deer, wild-turkey, squirrel and a variety of birds. Be apprised that dogs must be kept on a leash while on the trails. Also, the area is hunted, so it will be important to dress appropriately during the hunting season.

This cross-skiing adventure through George B. Parker Woodland runs through rocky wooded hills and offers a scenic and secluded ski. There are rocky ledges and large boulders that were left by glaciers thousands of years ago. This ski features a part of Rhode Island that has remained untouched, a window into what it looked like 2 or 3 hundred years ago. Wildlife that may be seen include fox, deer, raccoon, squirrel, wild turkey and a variety of birds. Be apprised that there are a couple of steep climbs but overall the grade is not steep.

The Breakheart Pond Trail offers a beautiful ski through thick forest with, especially when there is fog and rain. The forest is full trees of several species, including maple, ash, birch and pine. Featured along the trail are a few old New England farm ruins. Also interesting is an old dam and fish ladder which give the pond an element of mystery. Be apprised that dogs must be kept on a leash.

The Vin Gormley Trail circles Watchaug Pond and offers a scenic ski through forest, wetland and rock habitats. The trail is mostly blazed yellow, but there are sections that have a blue blaze, don't let them confuse you. Features on this trail include the forest, wildlife, Watchaug Pond, Burlingame State Park and Kimball Wildlife Refuge. The forest is full of Birch, one, chestnut, cherry and oak trees. Be apprised that dogs must be kept on a leash while on the trail.

Tillinghast Pond Management Area is a beautiful area that offers natural beauty and serenity touted as some of the best in Rhode Island. The Grills Preserve offers a variety of adventure opportunities that are mostly easy, with wide, well kept trails. This trail winds right near the Pawcatuck River and features not just the river but the forest and wildlife in the area. Wildlife that may be seen on this trip include deer, wild-turkey, squirrel and a variety of birds. Be apprised that if you bring a dog it must be kept on a leash while on the trail.

Wickaboxet Management Area is a pristine and natural area, thick with forest. The trail is not well known so you will likely enjoy seclusion, which adds to the allure of the hike. The forest is full of different tree species, including ash, birch, maple, pine and oak. Wildlife that you may see along the trail include deer, raccoon, small critters and birds. One of the highlights of the trail is Rattlesnake ledge. Be apprised that the area is hunted, so during hunting season you will need to dress appropriately to be safe.
