This is most of the connector loops around Highline Lake and its main Lake Trail. Various hard pack dirt and sand sections, some rocks. Pretty well maintained although some signs can get confusing with other side trails. Note- one section I did was from a lookout, and it was a very high pitched descent down, not easy by any means. But also, not the main trail I came to see on the map. That being said, lots of fun sections for more than beginners if you know where to look and how to ride. Lots of small day use sites for fishing or picnicking all around the lake. It was great for both me and gf- who is very beginner. Lots of good views and short trails.

For some reason after biking as far as i could, I thought I could hike the ridge covered in snow and the other side of the trail would be better. This was a huge mistake and turned into a grudge match between mother nature and I. I started downhill through snow covered downed trees carrying my bike. At one point caught my ankle and slowly flipped over my bike hanging upside down from my ankle. Note to self- turn around when there was obviously too much snow at the top of the ridge. Continue on and pedal through pain to miraculously make it home before total exhaustion. Bloody, beaten up, bruised but never quit. Made a bad decision and had no choice but to get myself out. Learned a good hard lesson yesterday. This trail in the summer is amazing- but wait until SUMMER

Wasatch Trail is for experienced and extreme riders only in top physical shape. This is considered the hardest mountain bike trail in Colorado. It is amazing and a once in a lifetime experience as you will ride over 13,000 ft through rugged high-alpine terrain. Be sure you are accustomed to high elevations before attempting. The views and terrain are incredible. Expect steep climbs, rocky terrain, narrow switchbacks, and huge drop-offs. Snow will be present well into June and July.

Mellow to exciting. Meander on Staunton ranch trail for 3 miles, then climb marmot passage trail, which has some fun features. For the back loop I recommend going up west meadow trail, and down chimney rock unless you like slightly technical climbs followed by slow, gentle downhill. Coming down chimney rock trail is mostly fast and flowy with optional features for added excitement. Some well built switchbacks take you to elk falls trail. This hiker only trail has a spot to park your bike and make a quick jaunt down to see the beautiful falls. Chimney rock is really cool too. Then back to elk falls pond to complete the back loop. From here going up the road (bugling elk) is nice. The climb back up marmot passage is fairly loose. Then back down Staunton ranch OR even better, do the front loop in which case you would go up Border Line trail.
