Hale Mountain OHV Park offers about 50 miles of trails, two mud bogs, and some rock gardens. The park holds special events occasionally and can be reserved for special occasions. It is open the first weekend of the month to the public. Camping is also available with advanced notice.

Adventure Off-Road Park is located right off I-24 for easy access. They have a variety of trails that vary in difficulty and terrain. Make sure you follow the signs and stay on the trails. Camping is available and they host a handful of events each year. There is a fee to ride the trails.

This trail is located in Windy Park and is a connector trail from the campground to the general store. It is mostly used by side by sides to get supplies. There is a 10mph speed limit. With no obstacles, it can be done in a 2WD car during dry weather. After rains, this trail will be very muddy and slippery on the steep hills.

This trail located in the Windrock Off-Road Park has a little of everything including steep climbs, water crossings, rock climbs, and pleasant scenery. A permit is required to access the trails and it will take a few hours so plan on at least a half-day. The ground becomes very slick when wet and increases the difficulty. Camping is available.

The Gatekeeper is located in the Windrock park and one of the hardest trails here. It is a combination of soft dirt, rock, and boulders. This is a straight-through trail so you won’t return the same way you came. Although it is short it is a giant long obstacle so allow plenty of time. You’ll need a modified rig with lockers, big tires, and a good spotter.

Wooly’s Offroad Park is a privately owned off-road park open to all vehicle types. There is a variety of terrain including wooded trails, steep hill climbs, and rock ledges. They are open on weekends and holidays so call before you head out. A spark arresting exhaust silencer or end cap is recommended.

Wheelin in the Country Off-Road Park is privately owned and has a variety of off-road challenges including deep mud pits, ponds, and trails that can be explored. The park is open during select weekends so call to get the schedule. They allow primitive camping for free and RV hookups for an additional fee.

Part of the Prentice Cooper State Forest, this staging area begins at the Hunters Check Station. You will find several trails that are easy and open to all vehicle types. Trails will be closed for turkey nesting season from April till July so you may want to call to find out the exact opening dates. A spark arresting exhaust silencer or end cap is required for all vehicles.

Panther Rock is located in Windrock Park and has some incredible views of the surrounding mountains. The trail is a mix of rock, gravel, and dirt. There are some off-camber and rutted sections and vehicles that are wider than 72.8” may have a difficult time. You’ll need a stock SUV with good clearance and low range. Camping is not allowed on the trail.

Schoolhouse Road is an easy trail that sits in the shade of a thick forest most of the way. The surface is hard-packed with gravel in some sections. It connects the valley road to the top of the mountain and is mainly used as a logging access road. A stock SUV is recommended.
